A thin (bus) line connects Woodlawn to the rest of NYC
The Woodlawn neighborhood of the Bronx is one of the most physically isolated in New York City. Surrounded by Van Cortlandt Park, Woodlawn Cemetery, and the border of Westchester County, this small sliver of the borough is beyond the reach of all MTA subway lines. It is only accessible by bus, and only one line reaches the heart of the neighborhood. And even it doesn’t run seven days a week.
The fate of the 34 bus, the only one that directly connects Katonah Avenue with Woodlawn Station, hangs in the balance as proposed budget cuts threaten to eliminate it altogether. Have a look at this vital line while you still can.
